A Message from Kyle Rowley, COO of Skrimp Shack

It’s not often that we as a business get to do something that has a bigger purpose, a bigger meaning. I am writing this to you from a highly personal approach. I am Kyle Rowley, Chief Operating Officer here at the Skrimp Shack. Born and raised on the Chesapeake Bay in Seaford, VA, I grew up fishing and eating everything that I could harvest from our waters.

The Problem

Declining Populations

Croaker are less abundant, Rockfish are not as plentiful, and my favorite Blue Crabs are declining in population rapidly. After doing some digging into this dilemma, I found that there was something I and Skrimp Shack could do.

Invasive Blue Catfish

While far from the only thing affecting our bay, Chesapeake Bay Blue Catfish is wreaking havoc on the native fish and crabs we all love.

The solution

Collaborating for Change

It was at this point I reached out to VA State Delegate Keith Hodges, who has worked tirelessly to pass a bill that will increase the Blue Catfish processing capabilities of local Seafood companies. The best way to control this invasive fish is to eat it, and we at Skrimp Shack know how to perfectly cook fish.

Our Commitment

Partnership with Sea Farms

We’ve been working hard hand in hand with Sea Farms in Gloucester to get this amazing light, sweet, and flaky Catfish Filet available in our Virginia stores for you to eat.

Together is the way.

Please come enjoy this flavorful fish at a locally owned Skrimp Shack near you. Help make a difference for our Blue Crabs, Rockfish, Menhaden, and countless other native Virginia and Maryland species.
